Wisconsin Interstate State Park, St Croix Falls, WI
Our first stop of the day on the 6th brought us to Interstate State Park at St. Croix Falls, WI. The park exists in both Wisconsin and Minnesota, but the Wisconsin side is larger. The park was established in 1900 and it is situated on the Dalles of the St. Croix River, which is a steep sided gorge in basalt. The site is notable for its naturally formed potholes. The area was formed by two drainage events from the recession of the Superior Lobe, with the potholes being created from sand and gravel swirling in the same spot for hundreds of years. The area is known for having the highest concentration of said potholes in the world. We had a great time hiking in the park and discovering unforgettable views of the St. Croix River.

Walking tour of Stillwater, MN
On October 6th, our class visited the Stillwater Commercial Historic District where we enjoyed lunch by the lift bridge and got to see it lift as pedestrians and cyclists gathered on either side to watch. There were some clouds in the sky with a slight breeze but the temperature was comfortable and it was a great day to be outside. In Stillwater, we used a phone app called Survey123 to collect information about the businesses along the main streets in downtown Stillwater and what types of businesses make up that part of town.
